Driving Pics
Driving Pics
Hi all,
This forum is really great - I love everything automotive and standard transmission, so its great to see a central meeting spot for people with similar hobbies / interests.
That said, I hadn't yet seen any driving picture threads yet so I thought I would start one. Would be really cool to see some pictures of members driving their cars/trucks - shifting, clutching, whatever.
I have a few that I will upload soon - hope others have some too!

I don't have any PICS per say, but I do have a short video I made a few weeks ago of my Accord's mildly stimulating acceleration :

Re: Driving Pics
I thought I was the only person that did that left right thing when the shifter is popped into neutral. I don't do it often anymore, but I still do it a few times a week for some reason

Ditto. I tend to give it a few bumps to the left with an open palm. I think I do this almost every time I'm stopping or stopped. I don't notice it much but I know I do it.paul34 wrote:I usually do left, not so much right. I am almost an obsessive neutral-checker.

Re: Driving Pics
It pisses me off to no end that as of a few months ago I developed that habit. Ive been weening myself back off, as I consider it to be incredibly annoying. On unfamiliar cars I dont mind it so much when I do it though.

Re: Driving Pics
I think I developed that habit when learning on the Corolla, as it had a very buttery shifter. You could barely tell if you exited a gear, and I think I didn't fully disengage a gear once and so started to do that side/side thing to make sure. Of course it's second nature now and I don't even notice that I do it.

No pics, but I've been planning to make a video since I found out a good way to attach the tripod in the car. I just have to borrow a camera from my friend...

Tritto, or whatever you'd say instead of "ditto" after someone's already said it. Left with fingertips or open palm.AHTOXA wrote:Ditto. I tend to give it a few bumps to the left with an open palm. Wife does a really exaggerated violent left-right, high speed, repeatedly...I fear she might break something.

Re: Driving Pics
I don't think I ever do "left-right". Always to the left alone, that's just too much unnecessary movement.

Re: Driving Pics
I always do the left-right wiggle to make sure it's in neutral. It's pretty much a habitual twitch by this point.

It's your fault. I bet you designed Parkinsons into every transmission you worked on!

^Sorry! We didn't know what we didn't know, back in the early daze. Coulda been worse. Coulda hired Dick Trickle as a transmission designer, instead of telling him his talents lay in driving in counter-clockwise circles.

Re: Driving Pics
i dont do the left to right, i know where neutral is so i dont need to double check myself. i just pull down or push up into neutral and go back to whatever my right hand was doing
