Re: Top Gear Season 13 teaser trailer
I don't really like the direction they have been going with Top Gear over the past few seasons--less content and more general entertainment. That being said, I'm still looking forward to watching the new season.

Re: Top Gear Season 13 teaser trailer
It was a pretty good show, but for some reason I wish they would've saved the race for next week and put a "normal" episode with couple of car reviews and other smaller stuff in the first episode. But then again, I don't know how that stuff really works, i.e. what attracts viewers etc.

WTF was that race? That episode had almost no content at all. How disappointing.
btw, I hope Schumacher wasn't the one who drove the FXX around the track. If it was, it's no wonder it beat the leader by 7 seconds. That seems like it would skew the results a bit. Actually now that I'm thinking about that, how do they factor in driver's skill when timing cars? Obviously on this show it's almost always the same driver, but what about for official times like the Nurburgring? Do they have the same driver make the lap every time or do they just not care?

Re: Top Gear Season 13 teaser trailer
Yeah, I guess there are a bunch of different factors that influence times too, like humidity and weather in general. The impact the difference in skill between different professional drivers makes is probably minuscule compared to the influence other factors have. I always hate when they time the car when it's rainy. Why even time it at that point? I understand it would probably cost a lot of money to reschedule for another day, but running a wet lap says nothing compared to a bunch of dry laps.
And yes, I almost turned it off when they went back to the race after Schumacher left. The only reason I kept it on was for the small chance it would improve later on or maybe they would review a couple cars in the middle. Instead we get to watch some stupid rat race remake on what is supposed to be a car show.
I suppose they're just trying to appeal to a broader audience...

Warner, according to BBC Schumacher was the one driving the FXX on the power lap. It was his car, after all.
Anyway, Top Gear hasn't been a serious car show for years. It's just... entertainment. Don't expect too much out of it.

Honestly, the driver skill doesn't really matter. Whether it be Stig or somebody else, it's always a racing driver of some sort ... and no matter what, they're gonna be within a few tenths of each other. I'd be more worried about other things skewing results ... like for example the fact that they don't have actual timing equipment and instead use a man with a stopwatch.
Btw, I highly suspect the FXX is gonna be taken off the board. The criteria for a car to stay up there is that it has to be able to go over a speed bump. The Enzo has the system to raise the nose, but I really doubt the FXX has it being that it's essentially a stripped out version of the Enzo. I think they just did that to make for a interesting segment and a nice transition to Michael's interview.
