moronic expert village video (aren't they all?)

Post by cactusleaf »

Go ahead and ride your brakes in neutral down long hills. Expert Village said it was ok!

This is moronic. As my first non-introductory standardshift forum post, I hope y'all agree with me. Where do they get their experts anyway? Homeless shelters? Teh internets?

Fail. Long downhill = low gear. They wouldn't have those signs up for truckers for no reason.

That's exactly how I feel. This monster needs to be stopped.

Check out his other stick shift vids too.. they're all pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, Expert Vlliage is self-submitted material. I think there's an approval process, but if I wanted to start doing video lessons, I can just start recording myself and submitting them, I'm pretty sure. The author definitely needs to be advised on this point, however.

They also have a video on how to change a head gasket. Only problem is that they're actually changing a valve cover gasket.

Jesus f**k.

Strain on the engine while engine braking going downhill? LOL
Ride the brakes going downhill? LOL
Ride the brakes downhill and downshift in an emergency only to slow the car down even more? LOL.

I give up. Give me a gun. I will shoot him myself.

Expert Village does have a few useful and accurate videos out there. I'd still only use them as a second reference kinda like Wikipedia.

Shit, I can't even get into gear if I'm already moving! I'd like to see him try to get it into gear going 30mph downhill!
