Post a Pic of your Gauge Cluster!

Post by 94Corolla5Speed »

We have "post a pic" of a lot of things (car, handbrake, shifter, glovebox) but I've never seen one for gauge clusters. Go!

To the left of it is the temp gauge, the right is the fuel. I couldn't get them all in the picture. This was taken about a month ago.

I love my gauge cluster (if you can call individual, separated gauges a cluster). It's one of my favorite things about this car, and possibly the only thing aesthetically unique that I absolutely love about this car.

Of course the PRNDL has been removed and a butt-ugly tach is hached in front of that position.

New Audi's have great interiors. I sat in an A6 avant S-line at the auto show and I was floored by how great the interior was.

One thing that I just realized....

The A5 is electronically limited to 130 MPH. Even chipped to remove the governor, I believe it tops out in the 155 MPH range (give or take a few MPH). So why have a speedo that goes up to 180 MPH? I'd much rather have a more usable scale that is spread out instead of cramming typical road speeds (up to 65 or 70 MPH) all into the first 25% of the speedometer scale.

Oh well....I'm not going to complain too much about that. I just think it would be nice if the speedo was marked in 5-MPH increments and numbered in 10-MPH increments.

Here's what I have now (again, not my actual cluster, but it's identical to this) in my 4Runner:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the car is cold, a few of those lights on the tach light up to show a sort of early "redline" right? What I'm wondering is if it's just a few lights there to show that the engine is cold or is there a soft limiter there that actually prevents you from revving higher than that when cold.
