It's quite funny that nearly all American cars say "unleaded fuel only" while here the only cars with such text are Volvos, and even in them the text is in Swedish. But then again my car, for example, would happily drink leaded fuel and actually won't run properly in the long run without a lead replacement additive...

We haven't had cars that need lead (or a lead replacement) since the 1970s, and in fact lead destroys catalytic converters which have been on all US-market cars since 1975. It's not even legal to sell (for cars driven on the road) anymore and hasn't been for a long time.

I think now "unleaded" has become synonymous with "gasoline" or "petrol" and they continue to stamp everything "unleaded fuel only" so people don't somehow accidentally put diesel fuel in...

I wish all cars still came with voltage and oil pressure gauges. It would be nice to know whats going on rather than a light that comes on when it's too late.
Two pedals, two feet, too easy.

What I'm wondering is if it's just a few lights there to show that the engine is cold or is there a soft limiter there that actually prevents you from revving higher than that when cold.
Yes, when the engine is cold the lights light up orange and go as far down as 4k depending on how cold it is. I've never revved it higher than the warning lights, so that's a good question whether there is a soft limiter. Probably not, as the manual says something to the effect of "don't rev the car higher than the warning lights when cold." On the SMG version the lights flash when it's time to shift. I like how the lights gradually turn off as the engine warms up. On the E92 M3 they have a really slick-looking red disc that gradually turns to indicate the safe limit when cold.

It's a stock photo of the Ranger's cluster, but this is what it looks like.

This one is from my old '98 Acura 2.3CL. Kinda weird font, but it fit the car.

The only shot I could find of the Maxima's cluster:

Absolutely agree.

The voltage and oil pressure gauges are indispensable in my opinion. My TJ and Cherokee both have them.

I'm glad to have them, as it was the only warning that my alternator died on the trail and it was time to head home (didn't like being submerged in muddy water). Good thing too, because the Jeep died as I rolled back into town. Had to tow it back to my house.
