Re: Got my new (used) wheels today!
Tandem axle compact pickups have been done.
Many of the snow tires of yore are like the Firestone Town & Country pattern I linked earlier.
Modern winter tires usually have tread patterns more like common all-season and summer tires, but with a lot more siping, stud holes, and of course softer compound. They have a snowflake logo on the sidewall indicating their winterness.
Here are some heavily-siped winter tires. I have some of this model.

Those are BFG T/A KMs. They are actually a good and durable offroad tire, I don't think they fit into a mild category. A mild offroad category is reserved for good all terrains, such as the BFG AT K/Os.watkins wrote:Mild off road tires. Factory tires on higher trim Jeep Wranglers.
ATs for mild offroad, MTs for good, durable all-around offroad and beadlocks for anything extreme.
Back to topic. In states that get snow and ice, it's advisable to sipe mud tires on trucks driven around in foul weather. Siping is only not advised when doing heavy regular wheeling in sharp terrain where the siped lugs will chunk and tear easier. Overall, siped mudders perform great in the winter. In deep snow they are unstoppable. They are generally worse than a good at on ice even when siped, but not as dangerous as an unsiped mud tire with big blocks. Mudders also rule slushy conditions. Essentially anything other than solid ice or glazed hardpack.
I've used AT KO's in the winters of the past as well as siped and unsiped MT tires of various sorts.
Edit: I recall it used to cost about $20 a tire to get the mudders siped at a tire shop.

Who wants to be normal? That would be a very boring life.InlinePaul wrote:I strive to avoid normality.

The center tread blocks are the same shape as certain GY Wrangler models. Hence the confusion.AHTOXA wrote:Those are BFG T/A KMs. They are actually a good and durable offroad tire, I don't think they fit into a mild category. I would still call them mild compared to a lot of what I see roll through the shop. Definitely a good tire, but certainly not particularly aggressive.

That poor Ranger. Kill it with fire, or a potato in the exhaust pipe.

I think that might be a photoshop. The rear tires do look like they would be touching in the picture at least, so it's probably fake.

I'm thinking the same thing. Besides the tires touching, if you look at the window on the cap the color changes halfway, right where the second set of wheels comes in.Shadow wrote:ClutchDisc wrote:hahaha that about sums up what I thought of the truck.
