05 Mustang GT owners - hot rodding
I'd like to hear from fellow 05 Mustang GT drivers about their experiences with the car.
I'm new to sticking and sports cars, I just entered the game 7 days ago.
I've got the basics, but I'd like to know what better drivers can do with this car.
1) top speed driven
2) fastest launch from stop (procedure, rpms)
3) fastest launch from 40 mph (procedure, rpms)
4) fastest 90 degree corner turn (procedure, rpms)
5) fastest downshift from 5th to 2nd, no brake (procedure, rpms)
6) highest rmps from 1st gear clutch drop, without much spinning
and anything else that you think might be interesting or helpfull.

Damn those things are quick. Just for the hell of it one night I actually tried to race one. Bad idea.

I wasn't in my car at the time, but I was driving a '02 chevy malibu. I had no intention of actually winning, but i wanted to see what a stock '05 GT could do... I was impressed. By the time I had got it up to about 50 or 60 that thing was pulling away pretty damn hard. I'm not real big into street raceing because I don't have a car suitable for it... yet. I drive a '96 ford explorer XLT and I have beat out a CR-V, two Subburbans, a '96 (or '97, not sure b/c it was a little dark) explorer XLT, and a volvo of some kind. I have plans to get a 2nd gen RX-7 pretty soon- my savings account is growing thank god. Then I can finally put all these auto-tech skills I've been learning for the last two years to good use.

The only real problem wit Mustangs, at least the 90's models, I dont know about anything past 02, is they have weak throttle responses due to a weak air intake and throttle body. I'd look into putting some $ into a larger throttle body and open element air filter. Just my 2 cents.

Haven't taken mine past 70 around here....there is nowhere truly suitable for racing or speeding around here that the cops are not around every corner. But I have tried getting UP to 65 pretty quick, pulling around a U-Turn w/ no traffic ahead. I havent pushed too hard (almost to 1000 miles, dont want to push the engine too hard quite yet) but it seems to take off faster than my dad's 2005 350Z.
Before you get any ideas, i'm from NY...I don't have a southern accent.
