Engagement on my clutch is very smooth, with little pedal effort. I would think that the Soft-Lock or Ram versions are also similar. For any hard or prolonged street use, you would want to add base pressure (take out some of the slip).
Actually the Street Twin was a great street clutch, it has smooth engagement too, just hits to hard when you dump it at line with slicks.

Clutchless upshifting on the street is easy, like you said just let off a lil (rpm gear matching) and it comes out and right in the next.
I just have a mental block when I'm going down the track. My right foot wants to stay planted on the floor. So what seems to be working, at shift rpm, I hit the two-step button on the shifter, the motor stumbles just enough to come out and into the next.

Thanks! I hope that it FLIES!!! LOL. I plan on running the L76/L92 setup on my 408 so we will see!

Hmmm... Im liking what Im reading about the clutch. I meant to give a call to McLeod and ask about that Soft-Lok. I will try again tomorrow.

Set some explosive charges and KNOCK DOWN THAT MENTAL BLOCK! LOL! I guess you will have to get used to it. Im a power-shifter myself so I understand how, mentally, its hard to tell yourself to LIFT AND SHIFT! LOL.

What type of gears are you running? Street gears or race gears?

BTW... NICE RIDE! I knew I had seen your car somewhere before. My wife is supportive of the racing also. As long as the bills are paid, she doesnt give a hoot! I just got a raise so the progress should pick up some. I was recently forced to buy a car (2002 Nissan Maxima SE 6-speed) since the tranny in my GTP decided that it didnt wanna play fair anymore. I hope my ride turns out as nice as yours.

I chose ratios that would give good ET (read as close ratio) and still work well on street. They are 3.25, 2.22, 1.65, 1.28, & 1:1
All the gears in a GF5R are 9310, straight cut. The trans is almost 3years old and about 2000 miles on it now, here is a recent pic of the inside. I was fixing a leaking seal.

Handcuff AND the torque tube on the mainshaft, huh? NICE!

I know the gears are 9310 ;) . I was refering to the gear material the 9-inch gears were made of. Are the rear gears the street gears (hard material) or the race gears (soft material)?

 Oh, I'm a little slow sometimes.
They were all Motive street gears (hard). and to be completely fair to the old clutch and gears, the failures, at least in part were do to poor rear suspension set ups.
I now beleave that some spring wrap and wheel hop aided in the carnage.

Wheel hop... FUN! Never good...

Speaking of wheel hop... I had a hard time trying leaving at the track tonight with my Maxima. First pass, I cut a .506 light. Great! Until the damn thing started to spin and hop the front end like hell. Second pass, I INTENTIONALLY slept trying to get my leave right. Spun a lil bit, power-shifted second and spun like hell again!. Damn front wheel drive cars!

Imma try again next week. I might give up on trying to drag race the Maxima and save it for the Camaro...

Update, I still have not made a 9 second pass, but got damn close.
vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUUGXBybYZw

It ran 6.46 at Irwindale 1/8 mile, a 6.39 1/8 is a 9.99 1/4 mile.
Whats really cool is I went 1.38 in the 60 foot.

Very impressive! I'd love to see this car in action... Are you running the car on the Thursday TNTs?

Irwindale kicked me out :(
They said my car was to loud :? Really? I thought I was at a race track?
City of Irwindale has a 85db rule and was there testing for sound.
After driving for an hour from Riverside paying $60. for myself and 3 friends. Then only getting one pass, I'll never go back there again.
BTW, I think my chainsaw makes 85db. For that matter so does my lawnmower.

85db? That's insane. The "quiet" Tanabe exhaust I'm looking at for my car is 93db max. I guess they can't let anyone with a modified exhaust run there.
