soo yea.insane wrote:my best friend got a 1964 Chevelle SS for free (well 20 bucks) Series 5837 - 2 Door Hardtop Malibu SS. Original 283 engine, 4 barrel rochester 4GC carb, and 2 speed power glide transmission. Some one left it in an alley between two buildings his dad owns and they got it because no one claimed it after a year and there was no registration. He also has a 1967 chevelle SS. Original engine, original trans and carb (junkyard $650)
Both are in pretty bad shape on the outside and could use a helluva a lot of work on the engine and interior, we are going to completly rebuild them and than try to sell them at Barett jackson, its gonna be one helluva a summer. But sick none the less. Full restoration, can't wait going to do a whole writeup when we get started in a few months, but we are debating to restore the 1964 model and turn the 1967 into a drag car, his dad's offered a 720r as a graduation+birthday present, a TT 720 whoowee.

All the gears in a GF5R are 9310, straight cut. The trans is almost 3years old and about 2000 miles on it now, here is a recent pic of the inside. I was fixing a leaking seal.
I know the gears are 9310 . I was refering to the gear material the 9-inch gears were made of. Are the rear gears the street gears (hard material) or the race gears (soft material)?
Keep in mind I have no idea what I'm looking at there, other than simply a transmission with some gears in it.
