2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS
Performance: 6
Handling: 8
Practicality: 8
Reliability: 8
Cost to own: 10 - higher is better
Feasibility of Sexual Encounters: 10
Performance: With the manual transmission the 2.4L 4 cylinder engine you get 154hp and 163ft-lbs torque. This engine does have a fair amount of low-end torque, but the engine doesn't shine until it starts hitting about 3,500rpm and is still powerful until 6,000rpm. Clutch is heavy, but is smooth and progressive. The transmission is GREAT - you can actually select 1st gear with out rematching at 10mph which is good for drivability, plus you can DCRM at about 30mph to 1st gear. I love this drivetrain.
Handling: Steering is light, direct, and tight. I LIKE IT. Nice and responsive, but when you're just cruising its light.
Practicality: This car is endlessly practicle with the hard top. There's a hatchback there with a folding back seat.
Reliability: The car has 116,000 miles on it now and all it needed was a timing belt at 90,000. I did the sparkplugs and they looked fine - she just needed some NGKs. Chrysler has used this engine in 2 valve form for so many years.
Cost to own: Gets 24mpg in town and will get 31mpg highway.
Feasibility of Sexual encounters: Very likely - You're going to get your freak on in this car. No question about it, girls see it and they see your penis... There's room for it in the hard top, too.

Re: 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS
Half of that had to be a joke...
Practicality: It's limited by interior space and 2 door access, though the hatch opening is large.
Reliability: The part about Chrysler must have been a joke, you don't think that would make most internet know-it-alls believe that it's reliable...do you?
Feasibility of Sexual encounters: The car is a bit small. It is also widely known as a girls car, not a penis extension; though that could attract some girls too.
My best friend had one and I wanted to borrow it to see if I could learn stick, but it was kinda beat up and he didn't want me riding on bald tires and a cracked windshield and whatever else was wrong. Later he traded it in for a decent BMW and I wish I had gotten a chance to buy it before I got my VW, it could have been a decent deal for me.

Re: 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS
The car is sort of a girl car, but hell at least its not a 1995+ Cavalier, Escort ZX2, or a Probe (sorry Roman).
It is a 2-door and backseat room is not ample, however, that's not what the car is for. How often do you carry more than a passenger anyway. For as often as I have 4 people in my car, the backseat can be small.
The 4G64 is a good motor, it doesn't have inherent problems like the 2.0L in the 1995+ Eclipse/Talon. The 2000+ DSMs are reliable, albeit they can have poorly fitting panels and cheap materials.
I would defiantly get another 2000+ Eclipse, I would probably try harder to get a GT, but this car is reliable and is easy to get around with in a stylish manner.

Cowman! I think you're being a bit rough. Isn't it technically a sports car? Chicks dig sports cars. I think He has a better chance in this than most cars. At least its not a 1995 Cavalier. No offense anybody.
However, it is not a penis. And time will surely tell if it is reliable or not. And the probe is a cool car. A race car. That probe would blow your doors off.

Re: 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS
I suppose it could be called a sports car; but the attributes I argued are known to be shortcomings of sports cars (or sporty cars, or whatever) anyway. Like I said, I wanted to buy my friend's Eclipse; I'm not saying it's a bad car.
I had no intention of being rough on the car or the reviewer, I was just trying to be realistic.
Reviewing my individual comments...
Practicality: The Eclipse may or may not be more practical than similarly configured cars. A 2 door sports car (or like a sports car, or sport compact, or whatever you want to call it) is not "endlessly practical".
Reliability: I wasn't commenting on the reliability of the car. I was just commenting on the reasoning used to convince others that it is reliable. Saying "it's Japanese" would be a much more effective internet argument for reliability than "it's Chrysler".
Sexual: You're not "going to get your freak on in this car" unless you're skinny and short, or a contortionist. When a girl sees the car it does not mean she sees your penis; it means she sees you as having a car that she would like or already owns. Again, I'm questioning the review, not the car.

Re: 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS
i hate people that think because they have a cool car, they can instantly get girls, and are instantly "cool people". my friend just bought a 2002 cavalier
and he thinks because it has an aftermarket intake and a fart can exhaust he is the shit and women and guys will love him.
people are retarded

Re: 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS
Thank you all for the constructive criticism!
I'm not going to say that I'm better then anyone else because I have a "nice" car. You are probably got going to reach the amount of sex appeal with this car as much as a Mustang or Camaro, but it's still nice. Like I said in the review of the Eclipse Convertable review, it's too small for sex inside the car. Outside of the car he/she can see your penis if he/she. Perhaps I should have been a little bit more specific on that.
This car is actually pretty practical - it's got a pretty big hatchback, and to me it doesn't have a high lift over. No - it's not going to have as high of a load carrying capacity as a sedan or a minivan, but for a 2-door sporty car, its great!Practicality: The Eclipse may or may not be more practical than similarly configured cars. We're not writing an Encyclopedia Britannica here...the vaguely arguable stuff gave us something to post about.ihartmacz wrote:Perhaps I should have been a little bit more specific on that.
