from Facebook:
I was heading home last night; thought I saw something in the road, swerved to avoid it, hit a patch of standing water on tires that were due for replacement, spun around and backward-rammed a light pole.
It was a surface street-level highway, and I was probably moving about 45 mph when I hit the pole. The car took all the damage; I walked out without even a hint of discomfort, if you disregard the emotional trauma.

Hey guys; I was planning on coming in and writing a bit about what happened... But I haven't really been in the mood to go into the dirty details of it all; I'm still mainly just bummed out for having killed a car that was so special to me.
I'm fine, and there weren't any other cars or people involved, so in the big scheme of things, it could have been way worse than it was.
Pretty bad though.

Holy shit, that hit was so hard that it left the car permanently upside-down!

Is this what happens when you get upside down on your loan from "Guido" and you decide to stop making payments?
Just good to hear you are feeling ok - no next-day soreness yet?
Take some time to gather yourself together, hear back from the insurance adjusters and then decide whatcha gun dew.

Hmm. Those pics were taken in Australia. Let's try these:
There's more damage than it looks like there is. The right side of the car is pretty bad from hopping the curb that was in front of the light pole. Transmission is definitely out of position to the extent that the shift pattern has moved enough that I can't engage reverse to pull the car key out. Rear floor is pretty crunched in. I'd be surprised if it were fixable.
pope-rusher - there was a tad bit of neck soreness yesterday night, but I slept upside-down too, and now it's back to Norm. And he's fine with it. I'll keep you guys all posted on what the insurance people have to say.
My local Saab club gets first dibs on anything salvageable; after that, Watkins, it's all yours.
Kel - one thing this accident confirmed for me, is that Saabs are very safe cars. I kinda wanna stay in the family. There's a 2001 9-5 Aero for sale not far from me with 75,000mi on it, and that is sorta piquing my curiosity right now. It's basically the sedan version of my car, slightly more luxurified.

Make sure that parting it out is compatible with your insurance.RITmusic2k wrote:My local Saab club gets first dibs on anything salvageable; after that, Watkins, it's all yours.

Yep, will be able to figure that out within the next week, hopefully. The claims adjuster is supposed to contact me on Monday. From there, I'm hoping it won't take long. Cross whatever fingers you guys have for me!

Good luck with everything, and I'm terribly sorry about Carmen. She was my favorite Vig on this site (sorry twatkins, I prefer my Vigs stock looking. I ♥ the 5 spokes). What are you planning on getting now?

Still looking around, but the Aero I mentioned above is the front-runner for the time being. Thanks for the condolences.

So what youre really saying is that you like those wheels. Because thats the only thing a non-Saaber would notice thats not stock about my car's exterior.94Corolla5Speed wrote: She was my favorite Vig on this site (sorry twatkins, I prefer my Vigs stock looking. I ♥ the 5 spokes).

Can you make your own Wannabe Viggen (Wiggen? - you can even still Swedish pronounce it "Viggen") by grafting all the good parts onto another SAAB?
That's what my son did with his first autocross car when my aunt gifted him with same model but 2 years newer/150,000 less miles.
