There's no reason a mechanic can't be in a hurry.Rope-Pusher wrote:Aren't those mutually exclusive?mtheis wrote:wannabe wrote:he was russian, and a mechanic.

yeah, but ur car doesn't have a rusted control arm anymore...comingbackdown wrote:98 or 99. Got ya beat. However, my speed limiter kicks in at 108, so... Yeah...wannabe wrote:top speed so far is 93mph
and no, I'm not doing that again. After that, I swore I'd never go that fast outside of a track again unless a life was on the line.

No, it's just losing a mount and one tire has gone to shit, so it bumps, rattles, etc. and scares the living hell out of anyone who jumps in it with me and hasn't ridden in it before...wannabe wrote:yeah, but ur car doesn't have a rusted control arm anymore...comingbackdown wrote:98 or 99. Roman, keep in mind, my car is an old rattletrap, and has a top speed of 108, max, no way around it.
With what it's doing, I know it'll survive straight crusing, I just don't dare take a curve too fast or do that on wet pavement.
But trust me, with that low slung of a car, that bumpy, it can be a bit of a thrill... especially with Slayer blaring so loud you can't hear, and a passenger screaming over it "OH MY GOD WE'RE GONNA DIE!"
My car doesn't take five miles to get to 100 mph either. WOT through 2-5, by the time you hit 5th, you're about at 70 mph, just keep the pedal down and you've got about three seconds tops until you're in the 95-100mph range, and 5th in my car is not all that great for heavy acceleration.

theres no way your shifting into 5th at 70 and definitely no way your gonna get from 70 to 100 in 3 seconds.
io dont shift into 5th til about 110. 5th is overdrive, its only good for 110+ where im running out of 4th gear. my 4th is at the rev limiter at 118

5th gear at 70mph still provides quite a bit of torque for me. You should also remember that his engine is a 2.2L 4-cylinder pushrod engine; meaning it's not a likely redline screamer like your DOHC V6. His engine is going to be geared differently.permabanned wrote:theres no way your shifting into 5th at 70 and definitely no way your gonna get from 70 to 100 in 3 seconds.

Take a piece of coat-hanger wire or bailing wire and wrap it around the hanger so it can't slip out of the isolator, because once it learns how to do that, you just know it will try it again some day. Vise-grip pliers area perfect tool for grabbing the ends of the wire and twisting them together. Works on bread-bag twist-ties, too, but it's kind of an overkill.wannabe wrote:i heard squeaking under my car, thought it was my suspension (NOOOOOOOOOO!) until i back down a steep hill (parking garage) and heard my muffler scraping the ground. great. got home, took a look. saw this:
