I don't think I had a service manual but I had a shitty time with the shifter return spring. I couldn't get it back, and Canadian Tire guy couldn't do it. I ended up just leaving it for the junkers to figure out.

been a while,

UPDATE

replaced the alternator in sept 2009 when the Z stranded me on the highway at 5AM :( total cost $450.00

besides, that, the car has been running super strong. im driving it close to 76 miles every other day for work. its up to 80,800 miles now.

had an oil change and tire rotation a few weeks back.

had a big blizzard around here recently, got a deluxe car wash and undercarriage wash to get that dam salt off.

think it might be due for a clutch bleed, but im not sure.

Update = rounding about to 82,000 miles.

Since this is the first New England winter that it is being driven daily on... it has some expected things come up

the brake Calipers in the rear "froze/seized" up and made this crazy noise whenever the car slowed down in neutral or with braking.

Got the rear calipers+ brake rotors + pads (rotors were due...everything was stock) replaced
$837.00

bought stock rear brake hoses ($113) and going to get those replaced shortly

no other further news, i love this car.

If anyone is a clear example of someone who needs to learn how to work on their own car, its you.

This. The day Pep-Boys didn't put my drums back on my Corolla after a brake change and then DENIED their mistake and had to own up to it was the day I took an interest in working on my car.

I started working on my car while I was a full time worker and a part time college student. Not to mention a full time boyfriend  . Just start with the simple stuff(oil change and tune up to name 2.) I don't think you work weekends, at least I'd hope so. That stuff isn't gonna kill you to learn. It pays for itself and is a great learning experience.
