Zexel's Scion tC Release Series 1.0 (Updated 6-23-09)
2005 Scion tC Release Series 1.0
37,000 miles
5-speed
Number 963 out of 2500
Almost everything I wanted to do to the car is already done. Custom grill, wheels, tail lights, exhaust, suspension, short shifter. The color, grill, upholstery, and badges(obviously) are what make a Release Series, a Release Series. The wheels may also have been part of that package...not too sure.
Future plans:
Shorten the height of the stick
Current model tC headlight swap
HID lights (not sure if I want 6000's, or 8000's)
Put my LEDs from the Matrix into the footwells of this car
Pedal swap
Update 06-23-09
Over the course of the past couple months I've owned the car I've upgraded the lighting aspect of the tC. OEM 2008 Headlights, 6000k HIDs, LED driving lights, LED interior lighting and license plate lighting.
Putting in the new headlights with my buddy
Result
Pretty decent shot that shows the color. Note: the incandescent light bulb in the high beam reflector has now been replaced with a white LED as shown in the few upcoming pictures. Unfortunately I didn't swap that out until the headlights were already mounted...it was a bitch to access those.
Now for whatever reason the following pictures taken both with a digital camera and my iPhone came out awful. I dunno if it was cause it was too dark or if the rain was screwing up the auto focus, but sorry for the blurriness.
License plate LEDs
Again, ridiculously blurry but you get the idea. Footwell LEDs, and Cupholder LEDs. I also got a Spotlight in my cigarette lighter. It's a little LED flashlight that charges in there and lasts for about 2 hours on a charge. It's amazingly small and useful. Best 20 bucks I've spent.
Driving lights.
Side note: I also got my lazy ass to finally run the amp cable back to my 2 Alpine Type-E's that have been sitting in my truck disconnected since I moved them from the Matrix.
That's it for now. Next at bat...Doctor Isotope Short Shifter, new shift boot, e-brake boot, center console cover, and a Honda S2000 antenna. All these items have already been ordered and should be here within 2 weeks! Stay tuned.

Re: Zexel's Scion tC Release Series 1.0
The OBX shift knob will be swapped for the shift knob I had on my Matrix..I just have to bring the factory knob back to the dealership. It's the same knob you use I believe. The Greddy counterweighted one! So that should help with the height problem.
And yeah I did notice the handbrake isn't as good as on my Matrix. My car moves like an inch when I let off on the brake. -.- How do I adjust it?
...Then I just have to watch out for falling glass.
Edit: And does the shifter move slightly when you go on and off the gas?

Good looking ride, especially love the look on that stick shift...
i really do wish there were more aftermarket parts that were unique for the scion tc...i swear, every tC i see driving around (and i see a TON of them everyday...too dam common) looks the same!
the rims on your ride really do make it stand out grats, curious on the price you got it for?

Let's just say I got a good deal on it. I went back to the same dealership and dealer that sold me my Matrix so he gave me a big loyalty discount.

Don't worry about that. That was all just a myth.Zexel wrote:T

Re: Zexel's Scion tC Release Series 1.0
Ashish: Thanks for the link. I'll have to attempt it when it gets warmer or when the slight movement bothers me enough to adjust it.
Buster: Didn't your roof shatter on you? And thanks for the compliment.
Now I'm having a problem getting the OBX knob off. It twists about one full turn lefty-loosey then binds up and gets really hard to turn. There's also two collars below the actual knob that spin around too, but I don't see why that would prevent it from coming off. Arg!

Oh yeah, that was my car that tried to kill me...
I just put a Mustang shift knob on my shifter. It's the most comfortable shift knob out of the ~8 different ones that I've tried so far. Much better than the TRD one, and better looking, also. It's a keeper!

Nice ride! But I think your tC's begging for a short shifter!
