i'm back. older, wiser, and porsche-ier
hey, it's been a while since i posted. glad to see everyone's still talking cars on here =D .
the other week i picked up an '86 porsche 944 5-speed, and i'm still having fun showing it off.
i ripped the pics off of my wife's myspace so they're not that great... i'll upload more as i get the chance to take some myself.
car's a lot of fun. it's the first 4banger i'm proud of
and, man. those corners... i'm not going to lie. it handles way better than the camaro!

Welcome back, Doc. Two things: 1. I really like your car. 2. I work right by the Base, just a few miles from where you're at. We see a lot of the guys and gals from the base stop by every day.

Nice! That's a very good choice in a car . My uncle owns a '83 944 that he's been fixing up/restoring for the past 4 years, I've always wanted to drive it or go for a ride in it. Supposedly, its a dead even match with my V6 Fieros. Straight-line acceleration and handling; I've always wanted to challenge my Uncle to a mountain run or 2. Thing is, he might beat me no matter what, he used to race motorcycles professionally and he takes his bikes to the mountains like 20-30 times a year. My driving might surprise him though .
Anyways, speed numbers to prove my point:
1982 Porsche 944 8.3 N/A
1984 Porsche 944 9.0 16.4
1986 Porsche 944 8.9 16.6
1988 Porsche 944 8.7 16.6
1988 Porsche 944 S 8.0 16.2
1989 Porsche 944 7.5 15.7
1986 Pontiac Fiero GT 8.0 16.2
1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula 8.0 16.0
1988 Pontiac Fiero GT 8.7 16.4
It'd be a fun race between my '88 GT and a 944 .

South > North any day. Who would want to live with the socialism, decaying economy, rust, insane cold+snow, nasty food, and other shit? I have family in Boston, I've been there many times, there's no way in HELL anyone could ever get me to live there. Same with most of the rest of the North, with Maine being a possible exception.watkins wrote:Nice car!

Socialism? How about the fact that the average IQ of the north is higher than that of the south. I think we know what were doing. Can you say higher standards of living?Tinton wrote:South > North any day. Who would want to live with the socialism, decaying economy, rust, insane cold+snow, nasty food, and other shit? Decaying economy? At least we actually have an economy to decay.
Insane cold and snow is only for a few months. A complete lack of seasons is really boring.
Nasty food? What exactly is nasty? The same can be said of southern food. This is all personal preference and there is just as much good food in the north and south as there is bad food in the north and south.
Other shit like what? Equality? High school graduates? A distinct shortage of illegal immigrants and old people?
Theres a reason I like PA so much. Southern hospitality with Northern sensibilities.

Re: i'm back. older, wiser, and porsche-ier
It seems like every other little red car of the day could equal the 944 in some way or another
Still, Ive always loved them. Very much a classic.
