Re: DKaz's new Mazda
Thanks! It's been a great car so far. I assume you're referring to the most important passenger in our car...

Re: DKaz's new Mazda
Dude, I love love love your microvan! I haven't driven a Mazda5 yet but everything i've read about them indicates they are just a bigger Mazda3 without losing all the fun.
We were discussing "what car do you wish you had that doesn't exist" on a different site (hooniverse.com, check it out) today, and I proposed pretty much the Mazda5, except in coupe form, with both doors being sliding doors, and with a liftgate/hatchback like the older Civic hatchbacks had. Which I then found out already somewhat existed in Europe (but no one bought it because everyone is dumb) when a friend posted this pic:
And yeah, as you can tell I said I wanted it with a blower and a kegerator standard
Back on topic, LOVE your Mazda5! And tell your dog to look at the camera

Re: DKaz's new Mazda
I thoroughly enjoyed driving the Mazda 5 I rented to go around Central California last year. Dunno if I can say that it felt like driving a Mazda 3, but it was comfortable, handled well, had tons of room, and was easy to maneuver. I would consider buying one when it came time for a family hauler, but my fiance didn't like the looks and won't go for it.
I really like your van! ..er...car.....er...whatever!

Re: DKaz's new Mazda
Lol, well being 500lb heavier than a 3 GT with a higher centre of gravity, yea it's not going to outcorner a 3, but it does well with all but the tightest curves on a mountain road.
The versatility is unbelievable, carried stuff from a stove among other things to 600lb of construction rubbish to even a few sheets of drywall that just had to stick out the back about 30". I don't know what this obsession about being able to carry 4x8 sheets of plywood/drywall in a hatch closed minivan is, this is why every single other minivan out there is a boat.
Ford is coming out with their Focus based 7 seater C-Max in a couple of years, that should be a great car to drive as well if the manual transmission and 1.6T EcoBoost engine comes this way as well. (Note the 3rd row is tiny and is really just to be using sparingly, but they were great the few times we had to shuttle family around and are usually folded down for maximum cargo space otherwise)

Congrats on the ride. My friend and I call the 5 the "Manvan" . Don't know why. Maybe the fact that you can get it in a standard . I wouldn't mind driving something like that.
2000 Honda Civic Si- Slightly faster than your grandmomma's grocery getter......slightly.

Re: DKaz's new Mazda
That is awesome. If I were to get a minivan-type car, it would be this. And damn does it look good lowered with wheels.
