There is nothing luxurious about the solid-axle-through-frame ride of a Subaru. Every Subaru I've ever been in has felt like springs were never invented. Granted I haven't been in a whole lot of Subarus, but the one I most recently remember was a luxury model, not a sport model...

Not the Impreza, the Saabaru. The Saab 9-2X is a rebadged WRX wagon with a different front clip and modified interior.

y'all are misreading what i said (except watkins). i was calling the 9-2x a pseudo-luxury awd two-tone leather wagon since it is not really a luxury car but a subaru impreza with leather seats, some saab cladding and other insignificant changes. i then told watkins that i wouldn't consider the 9-3 a pseudo-luxury car since i consider it a luxury car (it's too nice not to be). :)

Im not misreading your posts. 9-3X is more luxurious than a 9-2X and therefore is a step up. As in upmarket.
