Weight in the bed will make a huge difference, even with crappy tires.

With weight in the back (i.e., everything I own) ?

COMPLETELY different truck! I could go up hills without a hitch, or I mean, without needing to be pulled by one.

The bed was full enough that I didn't need any snow, but I'd have never thought of using something so obvious. Nice.
(In fact, I saw someone driving down the highway here with a bed pretty much full of snow and everyone in the car laughed at it. Never again.)

Snue is heavier than Snow - you might want to try it instead.

Snue Snue... That's what I thought about first.

Sasquatch, maybe if you're doing the "Snue-Snue" in the back of the pickup, there will be no traction problems...

Snue-snue is better without too much traction.

With out any traction you can get in very deep or keep falling on top of her. Traction FTW

With out any traction you can get in very deep or keep falling on top of her. Traction FTL
Friction burn sucks.

That said, weight in the bed and a good set of tires make all the difference.
Dad's truck needs some ballast... Still easy to kick the back end of that thing loose in the snow. Fun, but not when your passengers are about to have an aneurysm. Also not fun when it kicks loose on ice that you can't see and you fishtail like a shark after bait just trying to stay out of the ditch.

Not to bring up a thread that's a few months old,

But I love what it turned into while I was gone.
