Pictures and Videos of my MKV VW .:R32

Post by Saabstory02 »

OK,

Just a clean thread to post pics and videos of my MKV R32 for all. To start with, some pics of my engine bay were requested previously so here we go.

Stock/Old Engine Bay on the left; with my current bay on the right; minor mods only so far, more coming:

I'll be removing the black strip with the "VW" and "V6" on it soon; and adding a Blue .:R flag like this:

I'll also be adding a Evolution Motorsports intake with Blue tubing to color-match, and replacing the the overflow, washer fluid and oil caps with some Black anodized ones to clean it up a bit more. More pics once I have those in, probably a couple months since that's when I get my bonus

Next, a couple videos for those asking for audio of the exhaust note:
Start up:

Slow cruising around the neighborhood... Even down low the sound is awesome:

0-80ish using launch control:

And a quick one of the engine audio, accelerating from 40-80mph:

Thanks! VR6GRWL

I am still deciding on exhaust; I have always loved Borla myself; magnaflow seems too quiet on the R from what I've found so far but it may work.

Blueflame rocks too; I think it is still my front choice right now. A friends R32 with Blueflame:

Whatever you do, get the loudest exhaust you possibly can. I recommended M-flow because it's the loudest you can get on a 12v from what I hear, and it still sounds terrific. I assumed it would be pretty loud on a 3.2 also. You won't regret a loud exhaust, believe me :P

Loudest I know of for the MKV is either neuspeed or a Milltek Unresonated; but the unres'ed one is obscene... Loud enough that people get tickets for them all the time... I wouldn't mind Neuspeed though, it's a pretty sweet sound 8)

Do they have a "flapper mod" for the Mk5? I remember people doing the flapper mod on Mk4 R's, and it was plenty loud and tuneful.

I believe MKVs have the flapper mod too... Not 100% sure though. You won't regret borla although I'm sure the blueflame is good too. Non resonated please :)

MKVs do have a flapper yep; from 1500 ish up to 3000 RPM the flapper is closed unless you are at WOT. These vids are with the flapper mod already done so it is using both pipes at all RPMs here.

It's an easy 30 second mod really; but the effect is far less than it was on the MKIV due to the positioning of the flapper.
