You won't haul much mulch in a compact truck unless you have the HD suspension package that makes the ride rough or you're willing to overload your truck. Either way you're not going to be anywhere near as comfortable, nor able to tow as much, nor able to reasonably carry as many people in the extended cab, and a few other things I forgot.
.
Air bags a re a great compromise. Simply pump them up when carrying anything substantial. they are less than 150-100 dollars.

As long as you put a Posi unit in the back with a set of good snow tires. That way you won't be completely helpless.theholycow wrote:I'm probably going to end up with a Ford Ranger/Mazda badge-engineered Ford Ranger. That's what I want (due to reliability, parts cost, and a few other things) and what the market has to offer in cheap abundance around here.

I'll still have my GM full size pickup for snow and any kind of trucking work I need to do; the Ranger would replace the VW for turning the odometer and saving gas.

Re: comingbackdown's 1992 Dodge Dakota Sport
Heyyyyy... UPDATE!
My next post will be on the interesting experience that was the removal, repair, and re-installation of my fuel tank/pump/gauge sending unit.
For now:
The infamous blower resistor pack issue that I'm sure I referenced earlier in the thread... Yep, it's finally happening. Shit.
Other things of interest:
The short that is the root cause of my non-functional temperature gauge is definitely in the engine bay. Finding it will be a chore. In the course of the testing to find it, I suddenly became able to read wiring diagrams. Wtf?
John and I got together and got my O2 sensor pulled and cleaned today. (Many thanks, brother!) That sensor was dirty as hell. I have a lot of work to do on this truck yet. There's a fluid seeping somewhere around the bellhousing, but the fluids all check out normal. I shall be keeping a close eye on them.
Pretty sure the transmission has been apart at least once to some extent.
Right front cab mount is shot, metal around it is on its way out. This will be remedied in the near future. Damn things...

Did you simply clean your sending unit? If so, what did you use? I'm starting to get erratic fuel gauge readings.comingbackdown wrote:Heyyyyy... UPDATE!
