Did that once, and the insurance agent wanted the VIN of a specific car. Any way to just get a straight up quote of a car without the VIN?

Have you tried State Farm? I got a quote with just the year make and model for my Civic without the VIN. Some companies ask, and I guess some don't. Have you tried getting an online quote?

Most companies can quote without a VIN but it's much easier to quote with VIN - and you can be sure it will work. Just get a VIN for a car that is equipped the way you want.

I'll try the next time I find a car on Craigslist, but the last time I asked for a quote on a car, he "couldn't do it".

We have government run insurance In my province, I was able to get a quote before buying it as it was a huge factor. I'm paying $90 a month for insurance with $1mil liability, $300 comprehensive deductible and $500 collision deductible. My Mazda 5 is $115 a month.

I don't recall if it was Progressive or Geico, but I used one of them to get insurance quotes on dozens of different cars, just by back clicking and changing the model info. It was a big component of my car shopping.

And I for one miss the Pedobear sticker.

I'm not too worried about it. The car has a 20R/22R hybrid motor (22R block with a 20R head).

when you start swapping parts between different engines its actually called frankensteining an engine. a hybrid engine makes you think of smug people farting in a glass and smelling it. frankensteining an engine makes it sound evil, angry and powerful.

I have a pickup and a tow bar for flat-towing, but I can't afford the gas to drive across the country and my wife wouldn't allow it anyway.

Why not fly/bus 1000 miles then drive back 1000 miles?

I'm frankensteining a car. Its name is "Operation Christine slo Hackensteinberg". The "enstein" part is a la frankenstein ("It's FRONKENSHTEEN!").
