six's 2003 Acura 3.2CL Type-S
Hey guys,
Finally got the Acura CL that I mentioned a while back. It's a 2003 Anthracite Gray CL Type-S with a 6-speed manual. Got it from a great guy, really cool person.
2003 Acura 3.2CL Type-S 6MT, Coupe
3.2L SOHC V6 with VTEC, 260HP/230TQ
6-speed close-ratio gearbox (shifts great)
Limited-slip differential, FWD
6-disc in-dash CD BOSE Audio
Power driver/passenger leather seats w/ heat (and memory!)
Moon-roof
Automatic climate control
Sport gauges
HID headlights
Type-S badging all about
Mods:
AEM Cold-air intake
XS Power headers
Lightweight pulley
Window tint 35%
3rd-gen TL shift knob
Here are some photos while over at his house:
More pictures to come after I get a chance to settle down with it.
Drives really smooth, what I would expect from a Honda. Slick shifter, great road feel, steering has just the right "weight" to it. Oh yeah, not to mention, it's one fast car. VTEC kicks in with gusto, haha.

Clean ride!
Maybe you're just supposed to shift discs and cylinders every time you shift gears.
6 cylinders, 6 gears, 6 discs...are you sure this car isn't evil?six wrote:3.2L SOHC V6 with VTEC, 260HP/230TQ

Re: six's 2003 Acura 3.2CL Type-S
hahaha I didn't notice the 6-6-6 thing
And thanks for the congrats, guys. It was a great find.
Now that I've gotten a chance to drive it around a lot more, I've noticed something: I can't seem to stall the thing. I can reverse out of slight grades without throttle, basically do no-gas clutch near-dumps, all without lugging or stalling. Of course, if I straight-up dump the clutch from a standstill, it will stall but I know that so I didn't try it. I went in thinking it was going to be a little like the MS6, as I've read on some boards that the CL has a "tricky" clutch with a "minimal" engagement point. I thought, "cool, it's going to be like the MS6" but when I actually drove the thing, the engagement point felt as big as the Colorado Rockies and the clutch as forgiving as the Pope. It still hooked up well, but it wasn't the bolt-action, hit-it-or-bust type of hook-up of the MS6. If this clutch is "tricky" I can't even imagine how a "regular" clutch would feel like...
Anyway, I'm still working on the timing because mine is way off. I'm still compensating for DBW lag, even though the throttle of the CL is a cable. I can't seem to shake it, either. It will probably be a while...

I've often thought about one of these as a future car for myself. I just don't think I'd be able to find a decent one in my area.
I'm liking the interior though.....sport luxury.
Two pedals, two feet, too easy.

On the topic of the Acura, I would have just swapped in a 5 speed manual from a Mustang GT into the Crown Vic.

Dammed car is quick! I see a J-Series motor in there :dodgy: Had the same one in my MDX.... sounds and revs good. Wish they were DOHC though.
How heavy is that car?

It would have been nice, but I feel a Crown Vic is not a Crown Vic if it doesn't have the column shifter.ElectroGhandi wrote:On the topic of the Acura, I would have just swapped in a 5 speed manual from a Mustang GT into the Crown Vic.
Yes indeed, a J32A2. Rev-happy like you wouldn't believe. I constantly over-rev my rev-matches, hahaha. The CL Type-S manual is 3,446 lbs.fa22raptorf22 wrote:Dammed car is quick! I see a J-Series motor in there :dodgy: Had the same one in my MDX.... sounds and revs good. Wish they were DOHC though.
