Light output won't matter. You're putting HID's into a halogen housing. The light is improperly scattered and will bounce everywhere, blinding people. Example:

Top is HID in halogen housing. Bottom is HID in projector/oem/specifically made for HID housing:

The light output at the top is too scattered and will blind people. The bottom one has a sharp cutoff that provides good lighting without blinding your fellow motorists.

Don't listen to them. They are just a bunch of grumpy old men with night vision issues that need to stop driving at night or get their cataracts cut out. Lousy Krauts!

I haven't had a Cataract in like ten years. The problem is the same in a Pontaract, Ford, GMC, Isuzu, VW, and a Buact. Man, that Cataract sure was luxurious, even in its beat-up condition.

Seriously though, when I am blinded by someone's half-assed headlight upgrade it makes me wish I was driving a completely chrome car, or that some blinded driver would end up in the offender's lane and the offender would swerve to avoid the crash resulting in hitting a tree and getting severe injuries.

Improper glare-causing headlights are incredibly selfish and scummy.
