AHTOXA's TJ Rubicon Page.

Post by AHTOXA »

Hi guys,

So, the goat has been sold. This was not a rash decision, but had been rather foreseen in the last few weeks. The probability of this working out had been slim, thus I was planning to keep it for a bit longer, buy new tires for it, etc. However, I have gotten a deal on something that I could not pass up.

While the goat was fun, I miss wheelin, outdoors, the experience and the people. You guys have seen my posts as to how much I missed the truck. Well, it's not just the truck that I missed, but the experiences it has brought me over the years.

So I got a deal on an '06 manual 6-speed Rubicon and could not have been happier. No, this is not an April fool's joke.

Front and rear air lockers, 4:1 transfer case reduction and 4.10 final drive. I'm in heaven.

That is quite surprising.

Looks clean.

Are those tires mostly worn or is that just an illusion from the photo?

Yes, the tires are surely not new, they have roughly 5/32nd on them.

Yes, the old Cherokee will be sold.

Yes, I will take the Rubi to the meet. I will just have to ride with someone in the mountains or beg for a drive.

What were the problems you were having with the GTO? Just not being able to drive it a lot?

I have later discovered that the previous owner kind of hacked it.

- some of you may remember my ordeal with the rear suspension and how there were brackets welded to raise the rear.
- last year I've had multiple visits to the dealer for the issue of randomly dropping clutch fluid level. Sometimes during shifts the clutch would change completely. It would feel different (mushy) and engagement point would change. This was so sporadic that neither I nor the dealer ever figured it out.
- I was going to work and fix the issue of water leaking into the cabin slightly when it rains. It needed new weatherstripping.
- Handbrake cable needed replaced - snapped this year
- Just replaced the rear guibo, which cracked this year.
- there's a whining noise when diving below 40 in any gear that neither myself nor the dealer ever figured out.

But primarily, I grew out of it. It was a fun toy but that's all. Still love the GTOs though. No doubt there.

Looking to start modding this within a few months, perhaps. Lift and 33s are first on the list.

Whoa, this was unexpected. While I must admit I'll be a little sad to see the awesome GTO gone, I am really happy for you getting what you always wanted. This seems like something you wanted for a really long time. Congrats man! Can't wait for a ride! Hopefully with the top and doors off
