PD's 540i
Just picked her up yesterday. 6 speed manual/91.5k miles w/premium pkg. She's immaculate!
Comfortable and quiet; respectable and refined. A great cruiser, at the same time very solid and responsive. Stops on a dime. Pulls really nicely. She certainly packs a punch when you want it. Under the hood is the last non-vanos, non-DBW 4.4l V8 used in these cars.
I'm proud to own a piece of automotive excellence and brilliant engineering. A dream fulfilled indeed. I think she's gorgeous!
Sorry to be away so much lately; work has it's occasional benefits though...
Will post more about and more pics later. For now this teaser.

Congrats on the acquisition! I've always had a soft spot for the 540i.

Re: PD's 540i
Thanks all
Right now I am fixing some issues that have surfaced - HVAC system fan (the fan that draws in cabin air to monitor temperature) is a little bit noisy if you listen for it while the car is off. It apparently stays on for 16 minutes after the car is "activated" or last used. It's just supposed to be silent while it's doing its thing.
Also I've got to get the airbag light read; another common problem on these. It came on on the drive home. Welcome to BMW ownership lol. Sensors/gadgets everywhere; they're bound to act up someday I suppose.
Overall I am thrilled though!

Re: PD's 540i
Pulled out the HVAC dash assembly and proceeded to disassemble.
Cleaned everything out (looked like the inside of a computer; pretty dusty) and applied silicon lube to fan shaft. Done deal. Works perfectly and silently. Also freed up a sticky button or two...
Shaft that needed lubed (eehhhuhuh, uhuh)
Reassembled
All back together
The carport we made in the BMW's honor. I like a wide variety of color choice in my cars.

we have a secret BMW car club happening here with all you BMW heads, don't we? You all have secret meetings out in the open using some sort of ancient Germanic code. You make fools of the rest of us. I have figured out your secret. I will cast you out from the darkness! I will expose your doings! YOU SHALL FEEL OUR JUDGEMENT

Half our Viggen squadron crashed
Half our Cherokee Nation is on it's way to the reservation
Most of our rabbits seem to have hopped away
and we now seem to have a flock of Bimmers.
Things change.
