It's a Car Lounge meme of sorts. A user named Pelko back in the day bought a Sentra SE-R like this and he thought it was godlike since it chirped 3rd. Everyone made fun of him and now every time someone mentions a Sentra someone asks if it chirps 3rd.

Re: New car - 2005 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V
Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm really enjoying the Spec V. I had it into the dealer this morning to have the ECU remapped (recall from 2007 that was never done). They also inspected the infamous pre-cat and said it showed no signs of failure. I've already ordered a header so that I can get rid of that pre-cat before it fails. They also did a basic inspection and said the car looks good and clean all around.
Around town, the first 5 gears feel close, and all are useful. 6th if definitely a highway cruising gear, which is exactly as it should be. According to the trip computer it's running about 33-34 mpg at 70-75 in 6th. Mixed driving is averaging out to 27-28 mpg so far, which I find impressive considering the power on tap. All in all, a really good commuter that will keep that commute interesting.
And getting my daughter in and out of the B15 is a pleasure compared to the B14. It was definitely time for me to move to a 4-door. And to think that when the B15 SE-R came out in 2002, I was annoyed that it was a 4-door. Times change.
My younger brother, who is 18 and in college, is going to buy the B14 for his first car, so I'm very happy about that. For a cheap and fun daily runner, you really couldn't ask for more. I think it'll work out very well for him. He'll be here to pick it up in a few weeks, he's making a trip down from Buffalo with my folks.
Incidentally, here's what my driveway looks like at the moment - and this is when my wife's CR-V isn't there.

There's a house I drive past occasionally that has not one, not two, not three, not four, but five (5) mid 90s volvo sedans. Think like 740 series or the next one after that. They must really like those cars... And you must really like Datsuns.

Re: New car - 2005 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V
probably 850 or 950 if it's from the mid-90s; last year of 700 series was 92. i have always been tempted by the 850 and later S70, but always end up avoiding them due to potential expense of upkeep. most comfortable cars i've been in...Squint wrote:There's a house I drive past occasionally that has not one, not two, not three, not four, but five (5) mid 90s volvo sedans. They might be late 80s/early 90s thinking about it. The first car I drove was a '90 740 Turbo Wagon. And it's same lines, so 700 series or 800 series if I had to bet. Maybe next time I drive past I will actually look.potownrob wrote:probably 850 or 950 if it's from the mid-90s; last year of 700 series was 92. i have always been tempted by the 850 and later S70, but always end up avoiding them due to potential expense of upkeep. most comfortable cars i've been in...Squint wrote:There's a house I drive past occasionally that has not one, not two, not three, not four, but five (5) mid 90s volvo sedans. I've owned B13 and B14 Sentras; those cars were absolutely perfect executions in their segment. Awesome you're enjoying the new one so much!
