Nah, it's precise, just fast, smooth, and quiet. You can really flick it fast.
how do you know what his shifter is like?? The car is now 8-9 years old and probably not the same as when it was new.

oh no. i can't remember back that far man. 8) i was referring to rom's description of his shifter. i could be reading it wrong and he does mean it's smooth and not vague, who knows. i don't remember any VW shifters i've used being that bad (as in as bad as a kia or saturn shifter), either way.

How're the seats in these? I took a stroll in a GLI from 2011 or something, a Jetta from like 02. The 11 GLI wasn't horrible but I was not impressed with the 02 Jetta.

I'd contemplate getting some nice recaros

That was my major critique. I was given a Jetta as a rental car to put about 18 hours on over the course of two days. At the end of it, my back was a mess.
