New Car: 2008 Mazda3i Touring
So last Friday I finally picked up my brand new car, a 2008 Mazda3i Touring Value Edition in Copper Red Mica. Let's just say, after coming from a 1997 Honda Civic, I absolutely LOVE this car! It drives very nice, has plenty of room for me as the driver, and has all the bells and whistles that I wanted (which was really just the 5 speed, keyless entry - which after not having on my other car decided I cannot live without again, and an AUX input for my iPod). I was glad that they came out with the Touring Value Edition because it had all of the things that I wanted as standard features (mentioned above), plus some other things like fog lights and 17 inch alloys as well. It's really a great deal for how much car you get.
I was really surprised at how responsive the engine is despite the fact that it's only a 2.0 liter making 148 hp. BIG improvement over my old Civic which I doubt was even making 90 hp after 13 years. I thought that the clutch in my Civic was light, but the clutch in the Mazda3 is even lighter. The combination of the lighter clutch and the drive-by-wire throttle (my Honda had a cable) took some getting used to, but after driving it for almost a week, I've gotten used to it. Still can't DCHT like I could in my Civic, but I'm working on it. Oh, and it's fun to fling around corners.
All-in-all, it'll be a great car to bring up to school with me, which is what I was planning for it all along. I got a great deal on it, and am very happy. Plus, I just filled up and got 27 mpg, which should get better as the engine gets broken in and I stop enjoying the extra power all the time!
Time for pictures...

Oh damn, I can't say it's mint since it's new. Bummer.
I don't think you should drive it to school, someone might key your new car. I speak from experience.

Thanks! It's also pretty sweet because the numbers on the gauges are red at night, but the background glows blue.RainyDayHero wrote:I really like the red accents in the dash

Sorry to hear that you had to experience that. I go to school in a small town, and everyones is pretty nice, so I'm not too worried about it. Guess it's a risk I'm willing to take. Besides, it'll be covered in snow for 3/4 of the year anyways, so you wont even be able to see it.Leedeth wrote:I don't think you should drive it to school, someone might key your new car. Congratulations, Cameraman!
The lack of Nikon in your avatar is tough to get used to!
That looks like a great car. I want one now.

Thanks everybody! I appreciate the nice comments!
That's because they rock! For how many people on ss.com drive a Mazda3, I think I've only seen 2 or 3 around where I live.Paolo300zx wrote:wow, hitler shoulda used these to take over the world... THEY"RE EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!1111one!!!!1

Congrats on the new ride! Love the colour, I hope I can find a hatch in the Copper Red when I'm ready to buy.
