Need some help on body work

Synchros shot? Weird noises while shifting? Not sure what needs to be replaced?

Need some help on body work

Post by FDSpirit »

I posted this on Honda-Tech, and got no replies but like 30 views, but some 16 year old who wants to convince his parents to buy him a Civic Hatch so he can race gets like 100 responses. Anyway. Here's the post from said site

I bought this car knowing that the body was going to need some fixing up. Its got some scratches and a nasty gash, which I'll post below, along with other pics
Image
That's the trunk scratch

Image
Nasty gash, and the bumper is not on all the way? I want to know how to go about fixing this as well

Image
Yeah, that's pretty bad. Thinking of getting a new bumper because I don't think they are coming out, which would I assume would fix the bumper problem in the previous picture

Image
The same as the picture above the previous, but on the driver's side

Image
Little rust spots on the driver side door, also have little nicks like this on the roof, which I think are from rocks but I don't want these spots to get worse. I'd like to know how I should go about this. This is my second car, but I actually like driving this one, and I want to keep it looking good. It's a 2000 Si if that helps anything.

The most cost effective solution is to wear dark shades during the daytime. Think about it - have you ever seen a blind driver with a car in pristine shape? No, they don't care about what they can't see. Blind drivers are thereby able to purchase a lot more car for their money than sighted drivers. They only have to contend with the mechanicals, not appearance flaws.

they look pretty deep. theres no saving it without a repaint.

the rock chips/rust spots you can try some touch up paint to cover it up.

Yeah. Just got a few replies on HT. They're saying a repaint would be the best option after a detailing. Lol @ holycow. I've seen people here with taped on bumpers. A sharpie ain't nothing. Any ideas for the rear bumper?

^ Do you know they make duct tape in other colors besides "Primer Gray"?

They also make electric tape in a variety of colors, which is great if you have a Check Engine Light on a non-black dash.
