performance chip

Synchros shot? Weird noises while shifting? Not sure what needs to be replaced?

i could put an aftermarket speedometer in my truck that goes to 300 that doesnt make it any faster lol. and you would have way more torque with more displacement. watkins fail!

It will be interesting. But regardless, you still have more power than I do.

Lets see... I theoretically make about 56hp and 63tq per cylinder. Not too bad for 11 years ago.

if the wastegate is shut (therefore spooling the turbine as fast as possible) at low rpms the boost threshold is pushed farther up the RPM band (because the wastegate is shut) causing you to hit some turbo lag and therefore not move you as fast. im sure if you kept it floored in a high gear after you hit about 2.5k-3k rpms you would notice a considerable boost in acceleration, but lower than 2k and it would be pretty sluggish
You are right, except for the fact that the boost threshold is so very low on my car, as it is on many new cars, that closing the wastegate at like 1500rpm is similar to your illustrated case of flooring it when the turbo is capable of max boost. For example, I can modulate boost pressure with throttle, which for the rest of you non Saabers means I can get 10psi @ ~1800 rpm, and 6 or so at 1400-1500rpm. This is not to say I do this, as loading the engine enough to get this boost this low doesnt sit well with me.

I was under the impression that wastegates stayed shut until you reached the desired boost pressure and then opened as necessary in order to maintain that pressure?

manual boost controllers are usually just springs against a wastegate. lets say its tuned for peak boost of 10 psi. theres a spring on the wastegate that has the exact right pressure to keep the turbo at no more than 10 psi no matter how much boost is being thrown through the turbo. electronic boost controllers do the same thing but electronically.

Actually most MBCs these days are independent spring-valve units that control vacuum. At least for legitimate turbo applications.
