My car has 74k km and only 6k left in warranty. It's a CSX in Canada, which has 2.0L
I have to bring it in soon for an oil change and was coming up with a list of things for the dealership to take a look at.
I currently have this chirping noise from the drivetrain somewhere.
My garage is slightly upslope so usually for me to inch forward, I would just let out the clutch to the biting point and have it slowly go forward.
It is at this point that I hear this chirping noise. I do not have any noise when leaving the clutch off or on, so it shouldn't be the throwout bearing.
The chirping noise seems to have a rhythm to the rev. Once I rev the engine up at little at the biting point, then either that overcomes the chirping noise or it's gone.
I can reproduce this noise on a flat ground parking lot, just at the initial biting point.
What could it be?

Is it something continuous like a belt or does it make one chirp and then it's done?

When it starts chirping and I hold the clutch there, it would continuously chirp. If I release the clutch more(clutch bites more), then the sound goes away.
Also, when I shift at around 4K(it's a Honda engine, so rev-happy), there is a slight vibration that can be felt through the clutch pedal when I press it down. Is that normal? If I shift at lower revs, I don't feel it.

That's not good, I thought the throwout bearing would make noise if I complete press down on the clutch?LHOswald wrote:sounds like a messed up throwout bearing to me
Are the bearings usually covered under the comprehensive warranty? I still have 6K till I run out and I'm due for an oil change.

sounds like a high spot on the flywheel or pressure plate. it's hitting enough to make noise when you're holding it as it's engaging. any less and it's not touching, any more and it's hitting hard enough to not resonate and make noise. might be able to get it under warranty but they might say it's a wear item or your fault
