This thread is to keep me from sweating

Synchros shot? Weird noises while shifting? Not sure what needs to be replaced?

2. Tried using an A/C recharger with PSI gauge attached. I kept pumping refrigerant in there but the pressure stayed the same (low pressure, would need to add). No visible leaks.

I meant with a real gauge. Those Mickey Mouse gauges that come on the bottle of refrigerant you buy in Wally World are basically worthless.

Hey, I'm only trying to help. It's just that those gauges are terrible and I wouldn't trust them at all. They don't even typically show pressures.....just maybe green/yellow/red zone. Anyway, the first thing you need to do is find out how much of a charge you have in the system.

If you want to skip that step and check to make sure the compressor is functional, jump the low-pressure switch and make sure the compressor clutch engages. Just don't do it too long because you might not have any (or very low) refrigerant in the system.

Any idea where to get the pressure gauges? Also, how would I go about jumping it to make the compressor engage? I assume I have to disconnect the compressor wire and give it direct power? Or am I totally wrong?

Don't know if it's any good but this would be the first place I'd go to buy one:

Then of course there's always loaner tool programs at parts stores...

If you have an Autozone or Pep Boys near you, ask if they loan out the gauge sets. In an effort to help you out, just go to YouTube and search for a guy named ScottyKilmer. He's a mechanic who posts short videos of just about anything related to car repair. I think he had some pretty decent videos explaining how to hook up gauges and check A/C systems.
