Whelp, I am hopeful. It is now three weeks since they bled the Ranger clutch hydraulics. This time they actually stood the Ranger up nearly onto the back bumper and bled it that way and the clutch is still working beautifully. There was a slight loss of pedal at first but it seems to have settled out, and I am not having any problems shifting.

Paul,
Have you considered, given your abysmal history with the clutch release system on your Ranger, "Clutch Release System Conservation"?
You really ony need to use your clutch to launch from a standing start. You can even eliminate that usage if you can start the vehicle without depressing the clutch pedal. You could perfect your no-clutch shifting and save that clutch release system for when you will your Ranger to your grandchild.

Fixed it! Got rid of the Ranger back in October and bought my son's 2001 Chevy S10 5-speed manual. The clutch in the S10 works great. I notice where the Ranger has the clutch master cylinder in a near vertical position, the S10 clutch master is dead level. There is going to be a much easier bleed if and when the day comes to replace it.

After my last post in early August I had the master replaced. This time used a LuK. It seemed pretty good but was still losing pedal. We only bled 2 times before I sold it, so I don't know if the LuK would have worked out in the long run or not.

Ford, Mazda expand 'do not drive' warning to additional pickups

...but it had nothing to do with clutch hydraulic release systems.

http://www.autonews.com/article/2018021 ... news-blast

"WASHINGTON -- Ford Motor Co said Monday it is expanding an urgent warning to another 33,000 owners of older pickups in North America not to drive them until they get repairs because of a potentially defective Takata Corp. airbag inflator.

Ford in January had urged 2,900 owners of 2006 Ford Ranger pickups to stop driving immediately until they can get replacement parts after a second death was linked to inflators built on the same day."

Hey InlinePaul, did your Ranger even have "Shrapnel Projectors"?

Nope, mine was older, 2001. Just think, you can be fragged by your own car's safety device!
