This is an interesting technique that I don't see very often.
He's clutchless downshifting with a stock syncro transmission, hardly anyone does this. He's also using the clutch on his upshifts.
clutchless downshifting allows him to left foot brake all the time. I'm guessing he's using the clutch on the upshifts to 1) cause less wear on the syncros and dog gears when matches are not perfect, 2) potentially shift faster
still, the clutchless downshifts must cause a lot of wear unless he gets every shift perfect, which is pretty much impossible.
On a racing dogbox, many typically use the clutch on downshifts and no clutch on upshifts. This is the exact opposite.
