Pretty hard to lug launching in first gear. No need to slip the clutch unless you want to rev it high for fast take off.

Here is a clear example of lugging. You are in 5th gear, just came off the highway and lazy or distracted so forgot to downshift, now you are doing 20 mph and the engine is turning maybe 1000 rpm or so. The light turns green and you nail it. Now you are lugging! :evil: :twisted:

Once you have the rpms at or above 2000 rpm it is pretty hard to lug it unless you are towing a massive load or going up a very steep incline.
