2015 Chevrolet SS Getting Manual Transmission

Image

"The Chevrolet SS is stepping it up a notch. After spending a year on the market saddled with a six-speed automatic and old-fashioned low-tech springs, the 2015 Chevrolet SS is getting a six-speed manual transmission and magnetic ride control suspension tech, according to senior features editor Jonny Lieberman.

GM got much flak when it brought the Holden Commodore SS over to the States as the Chevrolet SS without the six-speed manual transmission available in Australia – after all, what point is a performance sedan with a slushbox? GM could make things right as early as this summer, if Lieberman's source proves to be correct. Starting this summer, a six-speed manual transmission could be available to back up the Chevy SS' 415-hp and 415 lb-ft of torque 6.2-liter V-8. With the six-speed automatic, the SS accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds. We suspect a six-speed manual will improve that time."

It took me far longer than I care to admit to put together why RP posted that in this thread...

I've joined several evenings though no one has really been on.

Matt and Moofasa are usually on during the day while they are at work unless things have changed quite a bit.

But if you were just asking if the chat was still running then I can answer it was as of this weekend.

Nothing changed on the server. Maybe it's related to the thunderstorms we've been having all weekend?

As the official lurker of this site, I have noticed a decline in participation over the years, both on the forums and on IRC. Believe me, I get it; we are a niche community and folks come and go, not to mention all of the other social media platforms available to us now.

It's been a fun ride, but I'm considering shutting down my IRC server. Feb 27th, 2024 will mark 15 years since I began hosting SS Chat. If anyone still finds value in my server, please speak up now and let me know; I may reconsider keeping it alive.

As for me, I'll still be around, lurking.
