That sounds like a silly thing to measure though. I didn't think about it before, but now I think it is similar to the trip odometer. It is probably something I can reset. I will try this afternoon.

It's silly if you're commuting to work or going to the mall. For service vehicles it's very important. In some vehicles and most heavy equipment it's the equivalent of the main odometer and can't be reset, and is used not only for the maintenance schedule but also for buyers of used equipment to know how used it is.
