What Brand of Gasoline do SSer's buy?

Post by 94Corolla5Speed »

Is there a brand of gasoline you prefer? I always find myself filling up at Shell since they have a few places around here that are the cheapest and they are a top tier brand. How about everyone else?

Costco is about the least expensive around here, opens by 6:00 every morning, and only about 3/4 mile from my house.

BP, usually. There's one really really close to my house, another one really close to my house, and a third one pretty close.

I prefer shell as well. Most common top tier gas around here.

I always go to the Canadian Tire gas bar. It's the same price as everywhere else but you can cut coupons out of the flyer everyweek and multiply your Canadian tire money. Every time I fill up I get $1.20-$1.50 Canadian Tire money. You can only spend it in the store but you can pretty much buy anything there so it works out.

I only fill 76. There were a couple times (literally) where I was forced to fill store/another brand, but all the other times, 76.

Whatever is handy, usually the one down the road. Used to be Speedway, now it's Rich. The one Marathon station in town is also quite nice. Decent quality fuel, really, really nice owner, and when a Valero station went in across the road, he started a price war. He won. One robbery and six months or so of prices higher than 3/4 of the stations in town later, Valero closed up shop.

I can honestly say the only one of those options that I can remember seeing in Canada is Shell.

Mainly due to convenient locations on the route between home and work, I'm a Chevron With Techron man. I likes me some Shell V-Power as well... sometimes, when the mood strikes, I throw in a couple gallons of race gas to bring my tank octane level up to 93. Stupid California crap gas.

All Finnish petrol stations get the gasoline from the same company (Neste Oil), so I always buy from the cheapest. It's usually one of those "cold" stations. 98-octane for the Escort, 95-octane for the Focus.

I've always wondered if the European octane rating system is the same as the North American system. I've never put anything higher than 87-octane in my car, and I've never seen 98 at any of the pumps around here. 89 or 91 is usually premium and 91 or 93 is usually Ultra (it depends on the brand).

Is 98-octane there the same as 98-octane here, or would it be closer to our 89 or 91?
