Reverse Gear, Free of Charge

Read in the comments for how this man experienced "intermittent reverse gear"

I had a 2nd semester calculus teacher, Dr. Wu, who would use the expression "Free of Charge" to describe how the value of an equation could go to infinity as the denominator went to zero. I wish I had a dollar for every time he used the phrase "Free of Charge".

Still, leaving Reverse gear out of a transmission and driving the transmission backwards with an electric motor would be a way to cut costs in a hybrid vehicle, right?
