Mercedes, Audi and BMW get Scooped by Chevrolet

CHEVY SS UNVEILED AT DAYTONA
Danica took that pole in the racing version of the Chevy SS, and Chevrolet used Daytona as a backdrop to unveil the production version. As we reported last week, it’s really a redesigned version of the Holden Commodore, but it’s the first V-8 rear-drive performance sedan from Chevy since 1996. The LS3 engine under the hood, expected to have about 415 horsepower, is mated to a 6-speed automatic trans that rockets the SS to 60 mph in about 5 seconds. It also has a near 50/50 weight distribution, something you almost never hear on such a large sedan. The Chevy SS will hit showrooms in the 4th quarter this year, but no word on pricing just yet.

Ever since the G8 went away there's been plenty of talk about potential replacements, usually the Commodore, usually called a Caprice. Glad they finally did it.

Now if only it was offered with three pedals.

HOLDEN REDESIGNS COMMODORE
Holden unveiled the redesigned version of its rear-wheel-drive VF Commodore sedan, which will make its way to the U.S. as the much-awaited Chevrolet SS. The new sedan features lightweight aluminum panels, new exterior design and a more sophisticated interior. Unfortunately we were not given any information on what engine and transmission will go in it. So we’ll just have to stare at these pictures and imagine a Chevy badge on the grille.

Looks like it's coming!!!!!! The 2015 Chevy SS will have MRC and a 6-speed!!!!! That's in a few months!!! Proven by images below from the MY2015 GM Online Ordering Guide, published July 17th, 2014. Showing both Magnetic Ride-Control standard, and 6-speed (and 3.73 rear axle!) as an option!!! My next new car awaits!!!!!

The G8 wasn't a fiasco at all. It was a great car, even in the standard GT trim, which had the auto. In the GXP, it was a monster supercharged V8 with a manual.

It wasn't the G8 that was a fiasco, it was Pontiac.

Haha, I made that post a year and a half ago. And that is what I meant, of course, Pontiac was the fiasco, not the G8. The G8 was a beast. Now, we get to have (in a small way) the GXP again in the form of a Chevy Honkin' V8, stick, RWD, sedan. The GOLDEN COMBO (what I like to call it lol). And the LS3 is so easy to mod, it's not even funny. Easily gain over 75HP with just CAI, headers, and tune. Add in cams, exhaust, and that surpasses 100+HP. And with the looks of grandma's Malibu, and you get the ultimate sleeper, not just a wolf in sheep's clothing... WOLVERINE in sheep's clothing

If only the interior and exterior design were a little more upscale. Especially the headlights and taillights, they don't look like they belong on a $50k car.

The recent inclusion of Mag ride and manual trans is awesome tho!
