Wet Dream

Post by Rope-Pusher »

ANY COLOR YOU WANT, NOT JUST BLACK
Back in 2007 Ford began using a new process to paint cars called 3-Wet Paint to reduce CO2 emissions. Traditionally a primer is applied to a car then it’s sent to a bake oven and then a base coat and clear coat are added. Ford’s process applies the primer, base coat and clear coat one after the other, wet on wet, before they have a chance to dry. That eliminates the need to send a car through a bake oven after it’s primed. Ford also uses a high-solids solvent which helps reduce volatile organic compounds or VOCs and the whole process drops CO2 emissions by 15 to 25 percent. Remember, paint shops are the most expensive part of an assembly plant, costing between $250 and $300 million. This new process will save Ford a ton of money.

Hope they've tested this better than they did the acrylics.

Aslong as the paint lasts. Unlike the late 80s GMs and mid 90s Chryslers.

The roof gets a ton or rust, and the doors and hood get severe paint flaking. Thing comes off in sheets.

Every white, late 90s, Lumina I see looks like trash and the paint is a mere suggestion.
