There is a flashing yellow I go by every day and people constantly are stopping at it. They need to review their driver training manual.
I have constant flashing yellow around my parts too. Same thing happened to me - guy slams on brakes I'm having to throw out the anchors in turn. Passed him while honking - no effect.

What is the theoretical reason to have a flashing green? I understand the point of flashing yellow and red, but green?

What exactly does a flashing green mean? I've never heard of it.

I heard that a flashing green is "better than a green light" meaning it's safe to go in any direction (left, straight, right), or that it means it's an extended green light which will stay green for a long time.

If Wiki is right, that signal is prohibited by the US manual on traffic regulations but other jurisdictions use it for crosswalks that have not been activated or signals that all traffic in one direction is protected.

Interesting, I'd never heard of it.

 When that song gets to "You don't have to sell your body through the night" I prefer to sing "You don't have to propel your body through the night."

So, on the wide turns tangent...I did one this morning, but for a specific reason. There was no other traffic around, it was raining, and by going wide I was able to keep it in 3rd gear and get exactly the right amount of power to the rear wheels to get exactly the amount of sideways I wanted.

I usually pull wide turns when there is a police officer who just pulled over some knob, who can't figure out where to pull over without blocking traffic. As much as I hate the flashy blues and reds behind me I try to give police a wide berth so that they can complete their stop as safely as possible. Most people just scream by and don't even try to give them space.

I give anybody who is pulled over, but especially police officers and anybody who is outside the car (changing a tire for example), extra room too...I wouldn't describe that as a wide turn unless they are on the corner though.

Sometimes there will be the random dimbulb who will pull over right after an intersection and everybody is forced to squeeze around.
