Tired of the spreading PRNDL disease!

Post by cwat89 »

I work at a local dealership as a tech and since I have been there I have only gotten to work on/drive 1 manual vehicle which was an older tacoma with 200k miles. I enjoy getting to drive any manual vehicle out there just because I enjoy it and I can add it to my list of all the manual cars I have ever driven. :) It is very disappointing. They only have one new car on the dealer lot that is a manual. It's pathetic!

Just wanted to express my feelings to my fellow enthusiasts!

End Rant...

I feel for you. The nation is in a sad, sad state when a blob shaped minivan disguised as an SUV can be sold for 10s of thousands of dollars to a public who has been brainwashed into believing that a fully automated living room on wheels is the best way to get from point A to point B and who are too distracted and/or lazy to actually drive a well equipped (read manual transmission) car. These days, it is likely there are many out there who don't even know what a manual transmission is, let alone having a desire shift gears for themselves.

I'm sure we all feel the same way. It is really really sad.

I know the feeling, cwat89. I worked at a Toyota dealership for 1.5ish years and became very happy any time I could drive a manual. Toyota isn't exactly known for their manuals (outside of maybe the Tacoma) and they keep cutting back on vehicles in which they are offered. I probably drove more used vehicles with manuals than new, even though the new vehicles outnumbered the used 3 or 4 to 1 (~300-400 new for ~100 used - obviously numbers varied).
