Same here. Never even thought of using an aftermarket shift knob....I guess there's nothing wrong with the OEM knob, why fix it?

Paul will post his baseball pic. A friend uses an 8 ball. I've thought about getting one, but my inner lazy usually prevails and prevents me searching the web for one I'd want.

I'm pretty sure this thing started life as an 8-ball but the 8 was worn off by the time I received it.

Re: How many here use aftermarket shift knobs?
Every floor shifted Ford I have had (1984 F150, 1995 F150, and 2001 Ranger) has had the factory shift knob come off on the 1-2 shift under heavy acceleration. I remember the knob flying into the back seat on the '95-- Well this baseball has been on for about 18 months and is rock solid. I simply drilled up into it, put gobs of Loctite all purpose adhisive and sealer in the hole and jammed it down. What I really like is the size of a regulation baseball is a perfect fit to the hand. It really feels great and I think I would want this in any car except for a column shift where it might be a bit awkward.
Stick shiftin since '77

Re: How many here use aftermarket shift knobs?
Not necessarily "aftermarket" but I do use a newer-generation TL shift knob in my older CL.

Happy to know I'm not the only one to keep my tassel in the car. Mine's only high school though.

That's actually my brother's tassel. Maybe I should put mine in the other car.tankinbeans wrote:Happy to know I'm not the only one to keep my tassel in the car. Mine's only high school though.

I did that (High School) but it has been 39 years now and it rotted away long ago.tankinbeans wrote:Happy to know I'm not the only one to keep my tassel in the car. Mine's only high school though.
