Silverado team throws down at Ram hoedown
The Ram-Chevrolet Silverado duel has been one of the industry's more entertaining storylines this year. In May, Ram sales slipped almost 10,000 units behind the Silverado, but in March, Ram beat its Chevy rival for the first time in almost 15 years. So we've seen more than the usual inter-brand teasing and taunting.
Example: As it has for many years, Ram set up an experiential drive event outside the Downtown Hoedown, an annual country music festival sponsored by Ram in Detroit.
Hundreds of hoedowners who rode a Ram around a closed test track -- including a hill traverse -- received a free T-shirt and special access to the May 30-June 1 concert lineup. But Chevy had tacked up a special message on the exterior wall of a nearby building for those traversing the Ram course.
"Hey Ram," the roughly 10-foot-tall sign exclaimed, "you call that a hill?"
