Where is the 3.8l Wrangler on the list? The spec is something like one quart every 750 miles is acceptable.

Constipated Reports surveyed almost 1/2 Million vehicle owners from 2010-2014 Model Years. If the 3.8L had a problem with oil consumption, you can see by the data below that it wasn't likely to have been heavily represented among those surveyed:

I know its out of the date range. Its just absurd how bad it is.

Why is any major oil consumption still considered acceptable with newer model vehicles? I mean, I understand a small amount from leaks/seals/etc... but quarts every 1,000 miles or even less distance?

Specs are usually a quart for 1k miles. That's just about standard across the board for all manufacturers.

I've not heard of the 3.8 consuming oil, though. The list below I'm aware of.

First thang-eyed Czech wood bee pressurization of the crankcase. Back when PCV valves were inexpensive and not hidden away, we often pulled them out and sprayed with carb cleaner to wash out the sludge that tended to jamb them.

Could be they're working as intended, but blow-by of combustion gasses is way above expectations and the PCV just can't vent it all.

Sum Injuns have issues with oil in the hed getting tost around during spirited driving and getting suct out the PCV. My son ran a catch-can on his Neon for this reason and it worked so well that now he's a member of OPEC!

Its a pretty common problem. We do more oil consumption tests on 3.8l JKs than any other vehicle.

Although the new Cherokee with the Multiair engine seems to be a problem too. That always results in stalling conditions before the oil level gets dangerously low however.

So before the oil level gets low enough that any bearings get starved, the low level results in some air getting suct by the oil pump and the oil gets kinda foamy-like and compressible and the valves aren't opened properly anymore and then Stalin comes out of his tomb in Reds Quare. Almost as if they designed 'em to have a "soft" failure mode.
