What happened to this place?
What happened to this place?
Decided to take a year off from this forum (for many different reasons) and now I come back only go realize that it's nearly dead. What happened? Did everyone lose interest like I did?

Re: What happened to this place?
Welcome back, Shadow. I've been wondering where you'd gone to. I think clutchdisc and inlinepaul ran away, haven't seen Corolla around, but many are still around answering questions and stuff.
In the interim I went from feeling like an interloper being as I had the automatic Escape to be one of the SS again with my Focus ST, in Tangerine Scream no less.

Focus ST...nice! I've been busy with building a new house. I moved 2 hours south for my job.tankinbeans wrote:Welcome back, Shadow. I've been wondering where you'd gone to. Hmm.....I guess the crowd will eventually die out as sticks become less available. But there are still lots of manuals available in new cars.wannabe wrote:no? i think people have a life....and newer cars aren't being made stick so theres not so many newbsShadow wrote:Decided to take a year off from this forum (for many different reasons) and now I come back only go realize that it's nearly dead. Re: What happened to this place?
So I drove an M4 the other day. I was surprised when I downshifted and the car rev matched for me. I don't remember reading about that feature on the M4. Apparently, the new M2 will also have it.

Welcome Back!! I noticed you weren't posting but it doesn't seem like it's been a year already (i mean that in the best way possible). At least you didn't tell us all off like another prominent member did before leaving a few years back (anyone remember that??). So you moved to South Joysey??Shadow wrote:Focus ST...nice! Re: What happened to this place?
I'm still here as well, but I rarely come here any more. I'm still a manual enthusiast and recently switched to a manual Forester for my current vehicle, but my general interests have shifted a bit, and this forum rarely has discussions about backpacking, motorcycle adventuring, backpacking, hiking, etc.
So, most of my online time is spent reading ADVrider and similar places to get inspiration for places to venture out to. That, and I spend most of my free time outside of the house riding the bikes, traveling and getting my hiking boots dirty.

Yeah....never thought I'd leave NY, but the opportunity was too good to pass up. It's nice down here and there's a lot of open space. Kinda reminds me of upstate NY in some ways. As a bonus, real estate and taxes are much less expensive here than home. Such a big difference....potownrob wrote:Welcome Back!! Re: What happened to this place?
southern jersey definitely has similarities to upstate ny. in many ways it's even nicer. many picture jersey as the land of smoke stacks, ghettos and endless sketchy foreign gas pump jockeys, but that's only in parts of jersey (namely in certain parts of northern jersey).Shadow wrote:Yeah....never thought I'd leave NY, but the opportunity was too good to pass up. I'm having motivational issues and a Ford ASBO, so I haven't been around on the forum that much. I burp up something on the IRC channel from time to time, though.

Hi guys!
Yeah, it's quiet here - in the last month there have been a few newcomers with questions, but THC and RP usually have the responses handled by the time I check in... so I haven't been commenting nearly as much either. We're probably all in a similar boat - still enthusiastic, but otherwise busy.
