This forum is basically dead, but I still check in once in a while. Too bad we can't get some new blood in here. The forum is dying faster than the manual transmission....

It's not just this forum. It's most forums out there, speaking mostly of automotive forums. They have been replaced by Facebook groups.

Only the largest ones like The Car Lounge are still very active.

that there car lounge makes pretty much any other forum look dead. not sure how we can drum up new members. something about millenials and post-millenials not wanting to drive, let alone drive manual. in other (brighter) news, eye have acquired second vehicle. it is not free-floating.

You've said that before, but I'm not seeing that at all. I'm active on the Audi forums (two of the big three) as well as Jeep and 4Runner forums. They are as active as ever and it's difficult to keep up if you don't check in daily.

A ton of what would have been on forums in yesteryear has transitioned to things like facebook groups or other social media. Most people are already logged in already, and theres also the easy ability to message someone directly and have a good possibility of a near-immediate response. The other day I looked for, found, inquired about, and paid for a part without ever leaving facebook.

I don't disagree with that at all...it's obviously a fact. But what I'm saying is that the automotive forums that I read are as active as ever, maybe even more active than ever. Well, all of them except this one. I don't know if it's a true indicator to gauge manual transmission interest in the larger scheme of things, but I certainly hope not. This forum could be really good if people were more interested in joining and contributing to the discussions. I tried like hell when I first joined here to create new and interesting threads, but I didn't really see much activity at all. I also think this forum suffers from a bit of a clique problem, but I guess that's not unusual when the few long-time members here are basically the core of the activity.

I am here today. Confess to much inactivity over the past year or so.

I want to change my username too, but not sure if it is permitted on this site.
