Three stock clutches in 7,000 miles and the only mods I have is the wastegate mod and a CAI. Slicks and NOS go on this week. I had it into the dealership 5 times for tranny problems.
1st time - couldn't shift into third gear
2nd time - possibly clutch but the whole tranny ended up giving out
3rd time - couldn't shift into 1st gear thought it was maybe a synchro
4th time - dodge got a synchro didn't fix the problem
5th time clutch was burnt up
currently - car is on blocks and tranny is dropped replacing stock clutch with Spec stage 3f since dodge voided my warranty
My recommendation is for dodge to consider using a stronger clutch that will handle up to 500whp with out slipping much
Ok the double clutching that I'm talking about may be refered to as a different term, so let me describe what I attempted doing. I launch in 1st gear and have a lot of turbo lag...so I punch the clutch as fast as I can while the gas pedal is pinned to the floor...I DO NOT SHIFT, I ONLY PUNCH THE CLUTCH TO GET THE RPM"S HIGH ENOUGH TO SPOOL THE TURBO TO THE MAX. Is this good or bad and will it improve the track times???
Standardshift.com to the 5th power can't set this guy straight. I thought the RSX money shift thread I started was bad enough. At least that could be an honest mistake. Punch the clutch and pin the gas pedal to the floor? That is simply car abuse.

most likely rode the clutch like mad. And most likely doesnt revmatch either.Paolo300zx wrote:i was talking to my mechanic at nissan, and he told me the fastest he'd ever seen a clutch worn out was on a g 35.
a chinese guy wore it out in 875 kilometers. (not miles, kilometers)
i have no idea how
Btw, lets not try to get the stereotype flying. I am chinese myself, so in case you're wondering, no not all chinese people are bad drivers...

Its not that bad to do a burnout, you just have to know what your doing before you do it, if done right, you should only really hurt the tires. These pics show a person who was on the clutch way too long, in fact it looks like the master cylinder went, thats what looks to have caused most of the damage. to properly do a burnout, you should only be on the clutch for a few seconds, then switch quickly to the brakes.
