Anyone speak French?
I'm wondering if there are people on this forum that speak French. I know they speak French up in Canada, so...
Je suis américain, mais je parle français. (I'm in my third year of high school French)

yea, but the grammar is atrocious when doing cross translation.. ie: j'ai tant reve du toi.. it translates it I so dreamed of the you, when in human translation it works out to be i have dreamed so much of you. yes what it translates makes sense, however, you lose the context of the meaning.

I only use translation sites to get the jist of foreign texts if I can't figure something out. I hardly ever get a good translation once there is more than 1 clause involved. For example, it translated "get the hell out of here" into Spanish as "deseo que usted obtenga el infierno de mi caso," in this case a very literal (and bad) translation
Then, when I translated that back into English, I got "desire that you obtain the hell of my case"

no, i didn't go to any schools in Louis Reil, i went to linden meadows -- english all the way.. the only immersion school that i went to was Oak Park, but even then it wasn't immersion. You're right there isn't much difference cause everyone speaks english anyways, kinda defeats the purpose anyways.. lol..
French was my first through family, that's it.. lol..
